alrite then, my idea is for a single hauler/miner/npc hunting player to be able to survive in 0.0 solo.
Ya know, what I especially liked in this thread is the pirates trying to present themselves as the wind and weather rugged gentlemen who honor their foe and fight fair and whatnot. bs. Maybe 1 our of 20 pirates acts that way, and that one will go through all difficulties to keep playing that way. The other 19 'yarrr'-yelling wannabe's however are no different than the guys ganking and pk'ing nubs near the starter towns in [insert random mmorpg name].
Seriously, pirates don't need a boost to their abilities, equipment or whatever. Playing the game the pirate way is hard, and should be hard. Just think of the other 'professions' as you put it. Yes, mining and freight hauling might be much much more valueable than pirating, but it's also dead boring. Imagine miners demanding 'make mining more fun, for we are the good guys, without us all Eve would collapse, pirates would have noone to prey on and so they would all quit playing and without player pirates everyone else would leave cause as we all know it's pirates and the grief after a ship loss that holds everyone in Eve'.
can you smell it? yes, yes... the whole argument about boosting pirates in any way is moot.
oh and before anyone accuses me of being a random nublet who has never even encountered a real pirate yarrrr... blah, whatever.
and another thing I almost overlooked:

Yer know, I'd find it to be pretty polite to NOT be attacked out of the blue by someone getting off on my ship exploding, tyvm lol. Not to mention they're always so 'polite' to only engage weaker targets, as soon as they realize they could be in real danger they're gone. Polite gentleman pirate who fights for the better of Eve my buttcheeks ;)
